It’s about this time every year- midway through 1st semester- that we get tired of our brown bag lunches. Try any of these updates:
Change up the bread: try whole grain pita pockets to ‘stuff’ or tortillas to ‘wrap’. Try whole grain bagels, English muffins or rolls.
Change up the protein: Try different nut butters (almond, hazelnut or soybean), hummus, eggs (hard boiled or salad-style), fat free refried beans (spread on a tortilla with some shredded cheese).
Add some color: sugar snap peas, sliced red/yellow/orange bell peppers, shredded carrots and/or thinly sliced cucumbers on sandwiches, apple slices (dipped in orange juice to prevent browning), or dried fruits like cherries, cranberries, and apricots.
