Slow Cooker Sunday: Carne con Salsa

Here is the second of my winter series of slow cooker recipes.  My goal is to post these recipes on Sundays so you can plan when to make them during the week.

This is probably the easiest recipe EVER:

1 pound flank steak

1 jar of your favorite salsa

Place steak in the slow cooker.  Pour entire jar of salsa on top of meat.  (You may want to add a little water if the salsa has a thick consistency).  Cook on low for 7-8 hours.

Serve with soft tortillas (whole or multi grain) and your favorite toppings:  guacamole, light sour cream, shredded cheese.  Enjoy!!

  1. I made it tonight, it was awesome! I used an old jar of salsa from the fridge and added half a container of fresh salsa from Valli Produce. Yummy!

  2. I made this tonight with some elk steak (given to us by a hunter friend). It was a hit with the whole family. Thanks for a great recipe that was easy, healthy and frugal.

  3. I made this tonight & it turned out very good! I served it with two sides… black beans with low fat sour cream & chives, and some brown rice cooked in beef broth & a can of diced tomatos slow cooked in. Super easy & delicious!! Thank you!

  4. This is an easy and great recipe! Flank steak was a little pricey, so we went with boneless top sirloin and Pace mild salsa. Total meal = under ten bucks! Leftovers on my salad..for lunch tomorrow…..YESH!! Thanks Lynn!!
